WalkUp Alarm requires you to walk a certain number of steps to dismiss your alarm. When your alarm rings, you must get out of bed and physically walk the steps you've set (between 10 and 500 steps). Our smart motion detection ensures you're actually walking, not just shaking your phone. This forces you to fully wake up and start your day active.

Can I cheat WalkUp by shaking my phone?

No! WalkUp Alarm uses advanced motion detection technology that can differentiate between actual walking patterns and phone shaking. The app analyzes acceleration patterns, step frequency, orientation changes, and movement consistency to ensure you're genuinely walking. Shaking your phone will not count as steps.

Yes, WalkUp Alarm is completely free to download and use. All core features including step counting, alarm sounds, motion detection, and multiple alarms are available at no cost. There are no hidden fees, subscriptions, or premium features locked behind paywalls.

Does WalkUp Alarm work on all phones?

WalkUp Alarm is optimized to work reliably on all major phone brands including iPhone (iOS 14+), Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, Google Pixel, OnePlus, and all other Android devices (Android 8.0+). We've specifically addressed battery optimization issues common on Chinese manufacturers to ensure alarms fire reliably every time.

What if I need to turn off the alarm in an emergency?

WalkUp includes an emergency dismiss feature. You can hold a specific button for 30 seconds to bypass the walking requirement. This is logged and counts as a 'skipped' alarm in your statistics, encouraging you to complete the walking challenge normally.

Does the alarm work if my phone is on silent?

Yes! WalkUp Alarm overrides your phone's volume settings to ensure the alarm sounds regardless of whether your phone is on silent, vibrate, or do not disturb mode. You'll never miss an alarm due to accidental volume changes.

How many steps should I set for my alarm?

We recommend starting with 20-30 steps for beginners. This is enough to get you out of bed and walking to another room. As you build the habit, you can increase to 50-100 steps. Heavy sleepers might want to set 100-200 steps to ensure they're fully awake.
